The Walldorf Weekender is now unimaginable without our Rust'n'Chrome, which is why the eighth Rust'n'Chrome will take place again this year on Whit Monday. After the area right next to the Astoria-Halle was very well received by you, the Rust'n'Chrome will also take place there in 2024, in the direct neighbourhood of the Astoria-Halle and the AQWA Bäderpark.
This means you can walk back and forth between the Astoria-Halle, Seebühne, the market and the Rust'n'Chrome and reach all these parts of the event on foot in just a few minutes.
As a musical treat, Didi Beck (bassist from Boppin' B) and his band (André BaTolba, guitarist for Peter Kraus and Dick Brave, among others, will be presenting his new German-language rockabilly album from around 11.00 am.
The Hoodoo Sinners from Switzerland are made up of well-known stars of the scene. They play rockin' 50s & 60s music in their very own energetic and rocking blues style. The doghouse bass and drums pump like a steaming downsouth train. At the same time, two twangy guitars provide melodic surf and turf while the raspy vocals, the screaming blues harp and the gently accompanying saxophone encourage you to join in. All of this comes together to create a powerful live performance that you're sure to remember.
Just bring a blanket and enjoy the outstanding Hoodoo Sinners consisting of:
Nico Cennamo - Howlin' & Shakin
Pat Madison - Saxophone, Guitar & Blues Harp
Martin Telfser (Ex-Mars Attacks and many more)- Guitar
Johnatan Höhn - Doghouse Bass
Pistolero Pepe (organiser Hangar Rockin' and many more) - Drums & Marracas
The best acoustics, the floating wooden stage, the concert sail and the very special flair of this location ensure an optimal open-air concert experience for the Hoodoo Sinners. It's the perfect place to get in the mood before doing some last-minute shopping in the Astoria market and then enjoying the last three bands of Walldorf Weekender 2024.
The evening dawns and it's time for the last bands of the evening. Roy Dee & The Spitfires are a 4-piece Portuguese/Spanish rockabilly quartet.
Four musicians, three from Portugal and one from Spain, who are very well known on stages all over the world, came together in summer 2016 to create a rough and wild sound influenced by 50s rockabilly.
With gigs around the world and releases on CD and vinyl, the four have made a name for themselves in recent years. Now Roy Dee & The Spitfires are back at the Walldorf Weekender. So don't miss out when this quartet takes to the stage and heats you up.
Growing up under the musical influence of her parents, who are both musicians, Alba began playing guitar at the age of thirteen and performed on stage for the first time at the age of fourteen. At the age of eighteen, Alba discovered what was to become her passion: American music from the 1950s, where her talent and creativity fully blossomed.
In 2016, the project "La Perra Blanco" was born, a rockabilly trio led by Alba. Original songs and classics form the initial repertoire. This is the moment when the story of "La Perra Blanco" begins to be written.
After a year of numerous concerts in Andalusia and northern Spain, Guillermo González joins the trio. Guille, an experienced double bass player in the music scene, becomes part of the band and forms an explosive rhythmic tandem that fits in perfectly with Alba's musical style. In addition to Jesus on drums, a saxophonist has also recently joined the band - so you can look forward to one of their first performances as a quartet!
Their fourth album "Get it out" is currently being presented. "La Perra Blanco" has rekindled the enthusiasm of a large part of the audience who thought this genre was already over and won over new fans for American music of the 1950s.
We come to the last band of the Walldorf Weekender 2024 and this one has it all. With The Revolutionaires, an explosive finale is guaranteed.
Formed in the hotbed of the UK North East music scene, The Revolutionaires deliver dynamic, hot rhythm & blues in their own indomitable, sweat-inducing style.
The quartet is primarily influenced by the rhythm & blues of the 1940s and 1950s. Thanks to DJ Mark Armstrong, they played their first gig in Germany at our Weekender many years ago. Over the last two decades, The Revolutionaires have established themselves in the British and European rock and blues scene. They have toured extensively both in the UK and abroad, playing festivals in Ireland, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Malta and Dubai.
To date they have recorded five CDs (and a vinyl LP and single with songs from "The Joker Royale") of hot rockin' R&B tracks. Each album reflects the raw, pure energy of the band, which also gives their performances a "hard" flavour!
